From its humble beginnings in a cosy room rented above The Palatine in Morecambe overlooking Morecambe Bay, The Secret Bistro takes residence on Sun Street in Lancaster.
Cautiously reminiscing back to January 2020, without the inkling of what was yet to hit the globe, husband and wife Gavin & Samantha, accept an offer of presenting Gavin’s fabulous food in an 8 tabled room, with breathtaking views of Morecambe Bay. What better name for such adventure unknown to most – THE SECRET BISTRO was born.
During the national lockdowns, their restaurant would then become an on/off takeaway that showcased gourmet tapas and Sunday Lunches delivered to the doorsteps of hungry isolators. The Secret Bistro was becoming increasingly less secret.
Until FINALLY, the restaurant could re-open fully with Gavin’s new vision to pursue his love of British and French-inspired food. But with an increasingly busy reservation diary and the secret becoming common local knowledge, they needed someone who could help out with managing service. In comes Bernie. With years of Retail and Hospitality managerial experience (and previously working with Gavin), Bernie joined the Bistro with a refreshed brand, online visibility and a “quirky” style of service. Samantha continues to serve as the restaurant’s creative director in creating an exciting interior bursting with character.
So how did we end up in Lancaster?
Luck, the right place at the right time, and taking the leap!
In July 2021, Gavin and Bernie join together in a business partnership to take the humble 26 cover restaurant, on a bigger and increasingly exciting adventure with the potential to seat up to 70 guests. Opened on Friday 1st October 2021, The Secret Bistro continues its story at 25 Sun Street in Lancaster
